03 Eigentlich ist es ja keine Burg, sondern ein Schloss. Und eigentlich ist es auch kein Dorf, sondern eine Stadt. Aber so schnell wird sich am Namen Burgdorf nichts mehr ändern. Im stetigen Wandel jedoch stehen die Architektur, die Kultur, die Ideen. Neu geschaffene Plätze, trendige Cafés und in- novative Konzepte ergänzen das Traditionelle. Ein Mix, der gerade die Altstadt von Burgdorf auszeichnet. Eine Kombi- nation aus alt und neu beziehungsweise historisch und zu- kunftsweisend ist auch das Schloss: Jüngst wurde es aus- gebaut und der breiten Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht. Mit einem vielfältigen Angebot lädt das «Schloss für alle» heute auf den Felsen ein und entführt Besucherinnen und Besucher in vergangene Zeiten. Seite 7 Aber nicht nur das: Es agiert als Jugendherberge mit be- sonderem Charme und als Restaurant mit einmaligem Aus- blick über die sanften Hügel des Emmentals. Und wer nicht nur staunen, sondern gleich in diese Landschaft eintauchen möchte, kann mit dem E-Bike das Emmental erkunden. Nor is it actually a village (Dorf), but a town or, in fact, a city. Not that it matters: Burgdorf is unlikely to change its name in a hurry. What is constantly changing is the architecture, the culture, and the ideas. Newly created squares, trendy cafés and in- novative concepts complement the more traditional aspects. It’s a mix that’s particularly distinctive of the old town centre of Burgdorf. The Castle, too, represents a combination of the ancient and the new as well as the historical and the for- ward-looking. Recently renovated and upgraded, it is now open to the general public. Today, with its wide range of offers, ‘everyone’s favourite castle’ invites visitors up to the rock for a journey back in time. Page 7 And that’s not all: it is also a particularly charming youth hostel and a restaurant with unique views of the gentle rol- ling hills of the Emmental valley.
